I don't await - and don't want - a "full automatic" lens (esp. for this price)

I dont want to rain on anyones parade and I'm a great fan of Panasonic cameras, but what I have noticed is that flowers and sunsets dont move very fast (sarcasmn not intended) and as far as I can see looking at reviews of the GH 1 it is not supposed to be very good at action shots. Due mainly to some shutter lag and the fact that the display blacks out in continous shooting. As I shoot pics of football matches(Grandchildren playing) I'm wondering whether action is the GH1s Achilles heel.
Comments and action shots would be appreciated.

Of course sarcasm was intended (and you realized it otherwise you'd have chosen a different way to express yourself)! But, that's not the intent of my reply. I don't have the GH1 but I do have the G1 and I'm not sure there is a huge difference between the two models when it comes to AF/shutter speed and burst mode blackouts. When I bought my first house almost 20 years ago, I did not have any skills in terms of doing home improvements but one thing I realized almost immediately as I was forced to do some work around the house...having the proper tools for the job was key! Can you use a flat screwdriver to screw in a phillips-headed screw? Of course you can but is it easier, better or more efficient than using a proper size phillips screwdriver? Heck no. My point here is, if you're shooting slow-moving objects (i.e. flowers and sunsets), the G1 is an awesome tool but if you want to photograph sports of fast moving objects, then you may be better off shooting with a Nikon D5000 for example!

My intention was not to provoke an outbust of indignation, my enquiry was genuine and humorous I thought.
Just to find out if anyone had any constructive action photo's or experience of action shots with what is otherwise a very good tool. As I have earmarked the GH1 as a possible replacement for my ageing FZ7. If the GH1 is no better at action shots than the FZ7 then I might as well stay where I am. I like the lightness of the GH1, it's 10 ozs lighter than my D5000 outfit. It seems to make a better job of low light than the FZ7.

Who says, GH1 is NOT suited for fast shots? It's a skill of photographer, not of camera. Iiiiii do not photograph sports (not interested), flying bird's pictures also are not my hobby :-)

Yeah, there are sports photographers with Canon DSLR and Canon $ 1.111.111 lens 1200mm - used as phallus symbol ...
