Although the GH1 appears to be a good camera with good video capabilities, IMO it is way way over priced. I have a hard time believing the video is worth more than half the cost of the G1. This is what ends up killing a good product with a lot of potential.

I disagree. for anyone who wants really good video then this is the camera to have. I have a Canon 5D mkII but if I was shooting more video I would like the features of the GH1.

So what are you gaining? No rolling shutter (unless I'm really mistaken) as you have a CCD and not a CMOS sensor. Fast AF while shooting video. Fully manual and also partial manual control (the latter I don't have on my 5D). So there are some very strong reasons to get this if you are wanting serious video or even good quality simple video. A beginner will get good video with this, they won't with a 5D mkII, 500D, D5000, K-7 etc.

Hmmm, it's not a cheap camera - but not overpriced. Lens 14-140 costs 900 from 1500 and it is a "lonely peak" - even Canon/Nikon/Sony/Pentax don't have such a lens (AF while video, complete noiseless, very compact)

For 600 $ / € it is less expensive than E-P1 body without 1.44mp EVF, moveable display, flash, fullHD video ...

Even Lumix GF1 is no "rivalry"

PS: for photo-only you can get a G1 - now with 100 € cashback ... for ~30% of a GH1

Those berry shots look real good. Should I assume the same IQ should be obtained with the G1? I'm dieing to buy a G1 (I can use my FZ28 for video).

G1 and GH1 delivers same quality (GH1 in 16:9 with 18.5% more pixels).

G1 - 4000x2248
GH1 - 4352x2448 (bigger sensor)

4:3 - both 4000x3000

hair-splitters and pea-counters will see a difference
