Default Macro on GH1: close-up adaptor..?

I'd like to explore macro photography with my new GH1 when it arrives (!).

Whilst I fully appreciate a dedicated macro lens and ring-flash affair will render the best results, I do wonder, since they are a relatively inexpensive addition, are 'close-up' adaptor kits any good..? The spec on the 14-140 lens states that it does 0.2x magnification (0.4x equivalent) - what does this mean in relation to achieving close to 1:1?

Also, is it possible to add either extension tubes or a teleconverter to the GH1's 14-140 lens to give more reach and/or closer focusing capabilities? I've not seen anything available anywhere.
