Thanks folks... the 20mm is a super lens indeed, and I'm very fortunate to have it in my kit!!

Depth-of-field (and background blur) are what "make" a photograph for me, and I thought I'd share a few more shots that might be interesting - they serve as a reminder that aperture is not the only factor when trying to get nice background blur, and that you need to consider shooting distance and focal length too. Don't despair if you want nice bokeh but don't have a fast lens.....

20mm (f/1.7)

140mm (f/5.8)

50mm FD (f/1.8)

There's no doubt that the 20mm wide open is very sharp, but I'm pleasantly surprised to find that my 14-140 isn't too far behind, and my bargain Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 puts in a decent performance wide open too... not bad for a 20 lens

I have join the 20mm 1.7 owners group. Lens should be arriving Saturday or Monday. Really looking forward to seeing how it adds to the low light ability of the epl-1.

Nice one shoturtle! I'm sure you will find Panasonic's 'pancake' very tasty

Yeah, now trying to decide weather to go with a 3 stop or 5 stop nd filter as the epl-1 on goes to 1/2000 sec, if I shoot wide open.
