Honestly, I'm tired of lugging around two big cameras and looking like a dork. So I have to make a choice. Do I sell the FZ30 or Digital Rebel so I can buy a pocket friendly Sony T30? I really like the thought of the T30...no extending lens to malfunction(like my LZ1 did after 6 months), 3" LCD, ISO 1000, same movie quality of the FZ30, etc.

I'm also posting this in the Canon DSLR forum hoping to get unbiased opinions.

We all know the benefits of both cameras, so what would you do?

Apparently you have no need for an ultra zoom or a DSLR so I would sell them both.

I just can not understand your resoning...but then I imagine it makes sense to you.

I think in fairness you should examine your use of both cameras
and also consider any critical image forays that one or the other can not do
given that info, you might look at how often you shoot wide lens and long

given the circumstances are equal, the DSLR is bound to be a more flexible tool
BUT if you only have 1 lens, or a very limited range of lenses
the FZ30 would be the one to keep

Since you mention lugging around equipment as being what you want to get away from, I would get away from the rebel. Why the t30 and not the fx50?

Gene, I can't afford to just buy a new cam right now....besides, my wife doesn't share our fascination with photography, so she wouldn't understand. The only way I could justify buying another camera is if I sell onethat I have now. I love both cameras, but I can't pick just one to take with me, so I always carry both. I could handle carrying an extra lens, but two big ass cameras.....it's getting annoying. I've got my eye on a Canon 10-22mm EFS lens right now....I need more wide angle.

fmoore, as I mentioned, I like cameras without extending lenses...like the FZ30 and T30. Not long after getting my Fuji 2800Z back in the day, I was drunk and knocked the lens sideways, causing it to malfunction. Luckily it popped back into place and worked fine for a couple years until I sold it. Then, like I mentioned, my LZ1 lens is broken. I have to put a good amount of upward pressure on the lens to get a picture now....for no apparent reason...it just happened one day when I turned it on. So I have been turned off from extending lenses. Besides Sony's Carl Zeiss lenses are superior to the Panasonic Leica lens, IMHO.
