Hi Teree,
Thank you very much for your comments.
It really isn't as hard as it looks.
This is how most were done:

Set the camera on manual exposure mode
Use a fast shutter speed 1/200 or above
Stop aperture down to f11 or small aperture
Set ISO 80 for max detail
Set camera to manual focus
Attach an external flash, (I use the Sunpak or Quantary 383)
I cut a piece of mat board for a bounce card and I use Velcro to attach
This flash output can be adjusted manually. Trial and error here, adjust for proper exposure, half power is usually what works for me, I use histogram frequently.
Attach the close up lens (I used DCR-250) can be challenging to focus, (very powerful)
Focus is the hardest thing, I frequently use a monopod and move camera to focus.
Use zoom to control amount of magnification

Here is a link to how the camera is set up....

Thanks again,
Bob

Beautiful!
I came to the forums today because I want to buy a macro lens for the fz30 - the Raynox DCR-250 is even available from amazon - looks like I should go for it - should I? Any contras?
Thank you
