This is another photo I would like some critique on... This is actually my nephew who volunteered to help me with some more proofs for a portfolio I am trying to make. This was taken today on an old rail road track, he has never worn overalls before, so this was his choice. As you can see, he's a big 'un' for only 8... The first is the orginal, the second is how I would like to print it as an 8x10 for the folio, it was edited in Photoshop with a Mid Night Sepia action... Any critiqing and comments are welcomed and wanted. Thanks!

Shannon

This kind of photography isn't really my thing.

That being said, I would suggest leveling the horizon. I also think it might look better if he didn't have that bush directly behind him.

I personally like the picture. The PP version is the kind of thing that I think is very subjective. Some might like the softening effect, others may think it looks too hazy. The sky looks a little harsh to me, but that could be my monitor settings.

8 years old, you say? He almost looks like he could buy beer!

I think the hazy effect works well, but I would like to see that hazy one turned to B&W, I think that would look pretty good?

I don' mind a little photoshop...so either picture is fine. The important thing is to keep taking pictures and working on your skills. Donna

I have thought about that as well, Jim... Ihave been slowly learning with PS CS2 and PSP 9. I actually have been doing this for a while, and I am loving it! It's definitely a learning process each time... I look back at some of my old photos and love to see how far I have come... Thank you for your comments everyone!
