I've had this camera for just 2 weeks.
I was working on some macros and
took about 20 pics of this critter, and to my horror
this sequence was in the MIDDLE of the series.

Has anyone seen this happen before ?
Is my camera deteriating, or some kind of one
time fluke, maybe a solar flare.
I just keep rationalizing anything but a broken camera.

Any help and/or consolation most welcome !

1. just prior to corruption.

thanks for the reply Riley, I would agree that
it looks like a bad CCD, but I've taken many
shots since , and they are fine.

I see myself sending it back, them testing it
and this intermittent problem doesn't show up.

sigh

That also looks like some type of radio or electronic interference!? Or possible a bad memory card. Try another card if you have one or reformat the one you have. Also try another battery. The other pictures look fine, I would think if it was a serious problem it would have showed up in all your pictures! As your camera is still under warranty shoot a LOT of pictures to see if it recurs. It could be a lot of things including the CCD as Riley stated, but my guess is as I indicated above. I know the electronics of the camera could be effected by some type of interference. Was someone using a cell phone near you? Don't think the worse until you've eliminated other possibilities. One other thing did you happen to check the pictures while they were still on the card in the camera? If so and if they appeared ok then it could have been caused during the download to the computer. Also when the camera is writing the info to the card after taking the picture if the battery is low or if something interrupts the writing it can cause similar effects. I've seen corrupted cards do some wierd things! Hope something here helps! Jim

By the way that's a neat grasshopper shot, (the last one).

Thanks for the very helpful info tiger.
You've helped me eliminate some possibilities I
would not have thought of.
The pics looked the same when reviewed in-camera
so that eliminates download glitch.
No cell phone near by.
New battery was still 3/4 charged.
Using a brand new sandisk ultra 2 one gig card, I suppose
it could have problems.

Next I will fill that card up a few times and see if
the problem rears it's ugly head.

Nice of you to comment on the last grasshopper shot,
coming from you means something since I've seen
your dragonfly shots. Wow !

Don't forget to reformat the memory card while in the camera, that will eliminate one other possibility! Also be sure the card is seated good in the camera. You might also take a look at the gold contacts on the card to see if they are clean etc. Hope it's nothing more than a isolated occurance! :-) Jim

I see your from Grand Rapids, I was born and raised in Flint !
