Is there any less expensive TTL flashes that will work just as well? The Pana flashes are very expensive and I am hoping someone will have some advice on other brands.

Thanks in advance, Don

Don

Basically the TTL flashes for the FZ's are rebadged OLYmpus FL36 and 50's., and the Oly versions are a lot cheaper. Panansonic is the largest flash manufacturer around and manufacturers flashes for Olpymus, Canaon and a few others. The FL50 is a very good flahs - I'm planning to get one pretty soon for my E1 and its about $300 and you may find it cheaper. The Fl36 is a good flash but its restricted and you'd end up getting teh 50 at some stage although its only around $150.

Cheers

HarjTT, What do you mean by restricted? I'm just learning about the TTL flashes and don't really understand how they work yet.

Fl-36 doesnt have a sync cord plug, so to get the flash 'off camera 'you require the Oly cable from the hotshoe, which is costly.

Apart from the slash sync cable - one of the disadvantages of the Fl36 is that it uses 2 AA batteries so cycles between shots quiet slowly - about a 10 sec wait from what I've heard before you can take the next shot. The FL50 on the otherhand doesn't have that issues at all. I'll try and dig out the thread on Olympus flash units.
