Hi!

Much better pic. I think we can safely assume that it is none of the Airforce one(s).

As far as wikipedia is concerned, the numbers are 82-8000 and 92-9000.
Their number ends with three 000 (yep, it`s even a triple zero plane). With this much better pic, we can see that the Numeric designator on the tailfin ends with-25 or such. And the first pic seems to have an identical numeric identificator.

A Short Survey at Airliners.net showed the different Painting scheme on all pics I browse.

Could this be one of the flying command posts? Some sattelite links in the bulge on the upper deck?

The protrusion just below the cockpit looks like on the Air force one, I must admit. ECM? Refueling?

That makes it only more suspicious, me thinks ;-)

*imagine some twilight zone music *

Cheers,
RealMash

Realmash is right.

It's an E-4B Airborne Command Post.

I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe next time don't post the location of the photo.

I think it would be fun to start a Thread ofa Weekly "What is it"

Hi!

Personally I would say:
Post whatever you can photograph without intrusion into military guarded Installations or private homes. If they think it is important enough not to be taken a pic of, they should provide appropriate countermeasures.

This whole security thing is completly unballanced by now, espacially in the US, and lagging behind a little, in europe as well. They use 9/11, kiddie porn etc. as their excuse to reduce the peoples rights in a horrendous way (I said use, I meant _abuse_ in the most vicious way).

I don`t say, that evil people are not using the internet. But I do say, I don`t have any proof, that despite wirteapping and traffic analyses and all that sniffing in my life, they are any more capable to do their job as they were before. They could not, and will not be able to do so, because of the exact nature of terrorism. They are only more nosy, and try to extend their control, because free information transport is just the opposite of what a state or big company with less than honourable leadership is interested in. Because they and their schemes can be exposed.

I do know a bit about security and being on ones governement`s watchlist-not because of what you did, but because of what you probabaly could do, or whom you know.

Believe me, that wasn`t funny 20 years ago. I doubt it will be now.

Cheers,
RealMash
