This is a very small critter, I shifted down to 3M EZ mode to get a closer look.

I wish I had snapped one at 8 meg and cropped
to compare.

Think there would have been a difference ?

That is a very good shot - you can feel the movement of the lil spider instantly.

I'm not sure if you took the shot at 8MP and then cropped if there would be a lot of difference or not.

Very fine (esp. for no add lens used)

no, you d only have had more outer space, but after cropping and resizing I think the useable size would have been the same.
Next time you can test it.

Metering is also more accurate when you shoot "cropped" at 3MP EZ
