Got out this weekend and shots some more macros. The damselflies were especially friendly.

Also found some interesting hoverflies.

This one has its tongue licking the pollen....

Managed to get this hoverfly in flight

Another hoverfly on a flower...

A friendly damselfly...

In your face damselfly...

Thanks for viewing

AWESOME!

Care to share your setup? Seems like 2 flash used for the Damsel!

Also, how did you manage to take the flying hoverfly? handheld ? Thats a really good HIF shot!

Sincere Congratulations, Bob.

I had already seen your gallery first pages but the last ones are great and IMO you are one of the best macro shooters up on this forum.

With the FZ30 DCR250 works great.
I have received the Raynox 250 for my FZ20 today.
So now my setup is fixed, with Nikons 5T, 6T, DCR 250 (and reversed 50-55mm) and ext. flash.
But I am still thinking if buying a rebated FZ30 at the end of this year or a FZ50 next year.

Still think that Tchuanye's early external flash technique (with bounced white or silver paper) is slightly better than diffused flash.

Hoverflies in flight with DCR250:
I am sure I can do that too, but how many attempts to get those 4-5 pics you have on your gallery?

Great Dragonfly shots, but I d also like some with the whole DF body/wings which is very interesting. I think that the 250 is too powerful for this (need a +3 diopter for that)

Francesco Narmer

PS Tchuanye maybe the smaller and more contrasted reflection in the DF eye is the sun light, not a second flash...

tchuanye, I really appreciate your comments.

The lighting is just a single bounce flash.
Here is a link to how the camera was set up:
