OK it's the sunset zoomed in. It really did resemble a fire off in the distant hills. In the second shot a large plane got in my way. We do not have planes that large land in this area so it is unusual. I found out Boeing flew one of their new planes down here to Northern Calif. so they could get out of the cloud cover and do low level test maneuvers.

You said large plane? How small it is against nature! Nice sunset picture. The cropped version does resemble forest fire.

They both look like a fire to me. Beautiful sunset but I can't see the large plane.

Don't know how a real forrest fire looks, so until I read the post was fooled.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. The first photo does look very much like a real forest fire from a distance, except there would be lots of smoke.
Don, in the upper left of the second photo. It may not look large in the photo but it is actually one of their newest passenger planes.

Great shots, Ted. You could have fooled me. Looks like fire. And with all the forest fires of late, I would believe that was what it was.
