Now same settings but auto metering on,AF mode set to single point focus high speed,and skylight filter removed.

Not bad by my standards and being a novice I'm pleased with them. Any input on how to improve upon these shots is welcomed.

You should be giving lessons......I would not worry much about the skylight filer it does generally add a pink cast but its not noticable in your photos.

Leave it on to protect your lens.

Thanks. I did shoot alot of shots and got a handfull of good ones. That's the great thing about digicams; keep what you want and delete the bad ones (There were alot of those "bad ones").
