if i wanted to replace my fz20 with an fz50, do i simply buy a 55-62mm step up ring to accommodate my 62mm pemaraal adapter? or do i need to buy a 55mm adapter, and a 55-62mm step up ring to use my 62mm add-on lenses?

No adapter is necessary, all that is needed is a 55 to 62mm step up ring.

fantastic, thanks, tcook.

i've had the 'how does it all go together' question several times. is there a good spot to reference when adapter, step up, step down questions arise? preferrably aimed at the fz50?

As tcook said there is no adapter needed the FZ30/50, thebody is threaded for 55 mm attachments any other size will need the appropriate stepring from 55 to?

And the manual shows how the hood goes on. It definately not as complicated as the FZ20 was.

If you are not going to keep your FZ20 you have no more need for the pemeraal adapter.

thanks very much, gene.

ok, today i keep the 62mm pemaraal adapter on my fz20 at all times. along with a uv filter until i wanna attach the 62mm telephoto, wide-angle, or macro lenses. will a uv filter attach directly to the 55-62mm step ring? or is it unnecessary to leave a uv filter on the fz50? or should i have purchased a lens cover and omitted the uv filter entirely?

Keep the UV on to protect the lens. It is easier to damage the lens on a FZ-50 than it is the FZ-20 with the adapter on. You can take it off when you attach an add on lens.

aha! thanks, tcook, that tells me everything i wanted to know. so for everyday use, i can keep a 55-62mm step up ring attached to the fz50, along with a 62mm uv filter and/or lens cover.

your replies are very much appreciated.
