Orange tail hawk. YES orange

Hawk - Orange tail instead of Red

When I found him with my binoculars something just did not look right so I got out my spotting scope and sure enough his tail feathers are a different color than what I have seen before. The early morning sun probably had something to do with it I think. I alternated between a deer grunt call and crow call to keep his attention.

Two beautiful shots Roger. You are really getting into stalking aren't you. It really pays off in shots like these.

Hi rafinmelb, I still can't decide which I like best so I am going to keep them both.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Beautiful shots Roger. Really nice and sharp! I've never seen a hawk with a tail like that.

Thank you for the nice comment Emmanuel. Like you I also have never seen a hawk with that color of tail feathers.
