I also meant to say that I luv the one person in the photo just to get a feel for where you are. Does this particular place have any special significance?

Interesting looking place, Raghu. Is this a type of bath house, noting the steps descending into the water? What is the fencing for? It appears to be like a crowd control feature. And like Annie, be interesed if all is some part of a sacred area.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, this is part of a temple ona hillock, with a view to another temple on a higher hillock. People generally feed the fish in this tank. The pathway is to enable people to circumambulate the tank (like they do at any sacred place). The place is called Sholingur, about 100 km from Chennai, India. And Jerry, you are right about the crowd control measure - though the temple was almost empty on the day I visited, on certain auspiciousdays you wouldn't find place to stand.

Thanks for replying, Raghu. I had thought it might have been ritual bath, part of some eastern temples, from what I have heard. I looked up Sholingur on Google, and it is all very interesting. Thanks again for sharing your country with us.
