Last week, Yogibear started a discussion on why not many portraits are posted on this forum. This provoked an interesting discussion around "what is a portrait".

probably the most useful setting is this

turn the flash ON
press the MODE button for an extended 2 seconds
you should see a different menu item
an "ILL"
depress the same MODE button briefly and consecutive menus will appear
ILL
CLP
4-3
m
now you should see "0FF"
rotate the rotating dial untill you see "ON"
press the MODE button again for an extended 2 seconds

you now have light intesity adjustment in (+/-) 1/3 stops. Very handy.
