The shot tower at Melbourne Central has been there for a while encased in its pyramid.

These days though, rather than dropping molten lead down the inside into barrels of water to make gunshot, they drop abseilers down the outside to entice shoppers.

Still looking up: you can always spot a gargoyle or two.

And a weird and wonderful mix of architectural styles. The Forum and some plain old skyscrapers through the Federation Square roof.

After spending the lunch hour looking up I resolved to look down for a while to prevent bruising. Some look down results tomorrow.

Another set of very neat shots. You have a good eye for interesting photos. I think the last one is my favorite with the dangling people a close second. Well exposed shots too BTW.

rob, Jerry, Emmanuuel and tinosa,

Thanks. Melbourne does have quite a bit if variety for a photographer. Part of being a gold rush town we have some wonderful older stuff around.

I got a real rush this morning when in the local paper they had an almost exact replica of shot #3. I could not find the shot on their online version but there was another at

I really enjoy the architecture for it as well. And it is interesting what they have done with the building and how they are using it. Thanks for sharing!

Your city would be a nice place to visit. And it is warm too. We don't have shot towers around here, alas.

Nice series.
