In macro mode the DOF is very shallow soconcentrating on its face has rendered the body out of focus.

wow raghu, I really like the second photo the best and it is like he is looking and posing, and even smiling, for the photo!!! nice one...

it's nice and warm out today, even noticed some buds and sprouts on some trees and my mom's hostas.

*don't stop at one picture of an insect! :G

Really an interesting little fella Raghu and great shots of it. I really like the color tone of the shots. One suggestion, if you had used Neat Image ( or another program) to reduce a little of the noise in the second shot it would have smoothed the background a lot. I copied your shot and tried it and it worked great.

Yes, Ted. It just didn't occur to me. There was a time when I regularly applied Neat Image to all my snaps. Thanks for your suggestion. I have now edited and re-posted my pics. They look better indeed! My thankstoothers toowho took time to look and comment.

I too use Neat Image all the time Raghu even on shots with my D50 at times. I find there are some shots it just won't work on but on shots with a smooth blurred background like yours it is great.
