first lemme say........the panasonic forum is the most popular with over 92000 postings....wow.
now for the question???
I just got a Wcon 08B , olympus, wide angle lens. The book, pgs 79 + 80, asks me to turn conversion on to W, pg3 of REC setup menu. However when i do that i am now limited to 1-2x zoom. Is it possible to leave the conversion OFF and still use a the wide angle lens??? If so what settings would i then have to adjust to compensate for the added glass ??? and man , its a big lens and with lotsa glass.
Well at least i look like a pro with it attached, haha. !!1
Looking for suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

You do not need to set the conversion setting to wide......it will make no difference in the photo quality. But the picture quickly starts to deteriorate if a zoom above 3 is used .....so the setting is there to keep you from ruining your photos.....why would you want to use a WA lens at anything but the widest setting?
