These guys were cleaning up whatever came out of the harbor ice as it melted. Click on any one to see large version. Face shows up better large. I did not want to lighten any more then I did, and they are some dark faced birds. Oh, and that foot is even huger in the large version. Think the water magnifies much?

The ice in pic 1 really makes the birds feet stand out. Nice sharp shot too, as are the others.
How long before the ice has totally melted?

Two weekends back people were still ice fishing in the back end of the harbor. There is a little ice there still, and some here and there, mostly by the South wall. Probably all be gone in a few days. I have not checked the beaches lately. They might take awhile since the wind and waves made some mighty piles and sheets.

Rafinmelb, I think one is a better picture also, but I really like that giant leg in the second one just because it is so weird looking.

These are American Coots. There are a number of coots around the world. They all look pretty similar.
