owners out there yet? Does anybody have a fz8 and a fz50 would love to see them side by side. I was surprised to learn that the fz8 is smaller than the sp550. So the fz8 should make a good compact super zoom. I really like my G7 but I just cant quite get the quality of pictures I want from it like my FZ50. So my wife likes using the G7 so im considering the FZ8 or H9 if the size is close to the same.

Stores I go to don't carry G7s. I met one once, a bit smaller then my FZ7 front to back. I consider my camera a compact super zoom. It is a lot less chunky then the competitor' cameras.

I wish I knew of a comparison like that too as I am looking to upgrade from my older olympus.....to either a discounted FZ7 or the new FZ8....although I haven't ruled out the fz50

check out the review of the FZ8 on dpreview and the posted samples....the image of the toys on the far right was the only one shot with "low NR" setting

the FZ8 now uses the same engine as the fZ50 (of course, different sensor and lens)

I keep coming back to the FZ8 as I am on a tight budget and it's now available for about $299

thanks but.....

I guess I misinterpreted the request....I was thinking more of photos side by side of the same thing each camera optimized for best quality

for me feature-wise anyway, the fz 50 offers hot shoe, swing down LCD, and wired remote shutter....

but now the fz8 has raw mode and great LCD/evf quality

On my budget the fz8 is looking better and better...down the road I'll save up for a dslr

thanks

gregg

ps.....I didn't know about that comparameter (or whatever you call it)...that's great
