Thanks for your comments mcliu. It does seem to be breeding season for those little flies. Their so tiny I thought there was only one until I viewed them through the camera.

Hi Bob Frank,They are very sharp and clear image.I think you must have waited to long to get these shots.Image 1 & image 2 give me the impression of "breeding season"(I find it funny,no offence intended)

Thanks for your comments happy peasant. It is difficult to visualize just what the scale is.

Nice shots. the dandelion one is good as the flower helps me realize the size of the fly.

Emmanuel, thank you for the nice comments.
Here is what my lighting setup looks like.

Excellent macrowork Bob, I like the clarity/sharpness of the pictures but what I like most is the use of flash. In most macro shots the flash is overpowering, not in this case. I'll appreciate it if you post a picture of your flash bounce/reflector set-up.

Thanks,

Emmanuel

My biggest problem with trying to use a bounce flash setup like that is most of my insects are in the shrubs and trees and the bounce card either gets in the way or I end up casting shadows with the leaves above the subject.

Still working at it though!
