Some pine cones that died waiting for spring rather than jump to the ground during fall.

A word for the flower would be gutsy. Nature is amazing, give it half a chance and life will fill any void. In the way that your flower will burst through the snow in spring our gum trees will regenerate after awful bushfires. As spring is breaking out in your hemisphere we are having one of those late burts of summer, pushing close to 100F today and been over 90 most of the week, so too bloody hot for walking the city with my camera at lunch time.

Not sure I am a fan of the posterized versions , but I do like the two original shots.

The crocus are bursting into bloom all around the main building at the Salt Marsh Nature Center.

Nothing like a little "Crocus Pokus" to announce Springtime!
