Just made a rush purchace on ebay of a TCON-17.

However, just noticed (after paying!) that it is the bayonet model not the 55mm threaded version.

I think that I will need the Olympus CLA-8 adapter to allow it to attach it to my FZ-30 or is it the CLA-5

Can anyone confirm this or suggest another adapter.

Many thanks

Tony

You need to return the Tcon 17 there is no way to have it fit your FZ30 and give satisfactory results.

Recoup your losses and get the correct teleconverter.

how bad would the results be? I have the opportunity to get a CLA8 at a very cheap price.

Would it not produce the same results as the TCON-17 with the 55mm thread?

Now I am guessing but if you could get this to work as you wish....and I do not think you can.......the Tcon 17 will be too far from the lens of the FZ30 and the vignetting will be too much and the pictures will be very soft.

I would return it and get the correct Tcon17.

I did say I am guessing ,but I feel you are thowing good money after bad.

Pretty badI would say. The tcon-17F (which is what you have) is intended for a smaller lens camera.Thetcon17ffront lens diameter is 2"vs 2.7" for the larger tcon-17. The use of a tube adapter (cla-9?)is going to make the vignetting that much worse, not to mention the overall image quality. What is the thread diameter of the tcon17f?Not 55mm? Your only hope is to get a 55mm-??mm step ring and see what happens. Your best bet is to bite the bullet, admit defeat, stop the bleeding, and get the real thing.

Wise move, Tony. The use of the emoticon is wonderfully apropros. Good luck with your true-tcon17. You may need it to get a shot of your distant wife.
