I haven't posted any new pics for a while on the forum - so here's a few from my oly E1. If you've not been following things on the DSLR side of things, PanaLeica are going to sell a 10x optical 4/3 zoom lens, the 14-150 f3.5-5.6 (28-300mm 35mm equivalent) OIS lens by the end of 2007. Its pretty small for its size, about the same as the Leica D 14-50 and does not weigh that much more. Not sure on the exact price but I'd expect it to be in the $800-1000 range, Here's the lens itself:

It may make the perfect walkabout lens and will work with my Oly E1 without any adapters. I also think we'll be seeing a consumer DSLR from PanaLeica this summer - I'd assume it's going to be at least 10MP 4/3 NMOS, Live preview (inc histogram), possibly a tilt/swivel LCD and it may come as standard with the Leica D14-150.

Now back to pics (Oly E1+14-54ZD):

1. Leiden, Holland. ISO100 F7.1 @1/5s handheld

2. A wee flower

3. Tom Parson's busking - South Kensington subway.

4. Chinese New Year, Chinatown London

5. Leiden, Canals

There's more of the pics from Leiden, Holland here:

Harj, lovely set of pictures. I'm very partial to #2 the flower (yea I guess you can tell I like flowers:?) and #3 the guitar player.

Hi Annie, Hiroshi & ck

Thanks for the comments all. Annie, I was in Holland for just 36 hours and about 8-9 hours of that was just wondering about and taking pictures. Leiden's a very pretty University town/city and is just 15mins away from Amsterdam.

I did some research on the Nikon 17-200 3.5-5.6VR which would be equivalent to the new Leica D14-150 and from what I've found the Nikon is a mixed bag (lots of distortion, IQ so and so, not sharp, etc) so I'm hoping that the Leica D is able to avoid a lot of these and if it can it could well be a cracker of a lens. Price wise the Nikkor is 800-900$USD so I can imagine the PanaLeica D being the same.

Cheers

HarjTT, I enjoyed all your photos. I think number one is my favorite. Also, many thanks for keeping us updated on new developments by Panasonic. That lens looks very interesting, except for the price that is.
