Yeah I know the FZ30 should not take night sports shots and all that, but it was opening round of the football season and I was going to go and I wanted something to do in the breaks so I took the FZ30 along.

For those of you who do not know Aussie rules, they have some strange habits:

Like getting volunteer cheer squads to build enormous banners

That the teams then run through when they come onto the ground

At half time the ground gets overrun by little kids playing a dozen or so min-games (sometimes more fun than the real thing). Spot the full moon ?

Oh OK here is the moon shot....hand held, with a daughter whining she wanted me to get her some doughnuts and I have no added lenses so there is plenty of crop in here.

Oh yeah they did play footy

So maybe the FZ30 should not do this sort of thing, but for this little amateur it was still a bit of fun. I'll get out of you way now.

Well Raf, for a camera that supposedly shouldnt do these kind of shots you`ve done a fine job with these. All very nicely taken....great series of shots.

Thanks Mark. The camera is just so much fun to use, I can't help myself.

Obviously the pundits are mistaken — in the right hands the FZ30 takes fine night shots.

When you said April Fools day I expected a different kind of Moon Shot.:-) Well don on the night shots and that's a great moon shot for hand held and no add on lenses.

Thanks Ted. The fools refers to we 60 odd thousand who decided to waste such a beautiful evening at the MCG(Melbourne Cricket Ground affectionately known as The G) watching the football. Oh well we each are crazy in our own peculiar way!:-)

It wasn't that big a waste. You had an open top stadium at least. And it looks like a good time was had by all. Nice series. Your camera takes a much better moon then does mine.

Thanks Happy. This is the first moon shot that has been at all presentable. All my other attempts have been pitiable, so I would persevere, if a dunderhead like me can get lucky there is hope for all.

A very nice series, gives me encouragement, there is still hope for the FZ30, but I wonder if there is for me. Seems I understand what I read, but not quite able to apply. By the way, everybody is asking me to do the "paella" (sic) again. They really like the combo of cajun and Australian influence.
