I made this a while ago just really to see if the idea would work....and it turned out it does, quite well in fact.
The pics hopefully explain it better than I can in words, but basically its a tubular extension that slips over the onboard flash. It`s made from thin flexible plastic (from a large milk carton)with the inside lined with tin foil to reflect the flash along it.
I made it with 2 layers, to sandwich a couple of lengths of flexible wire between them to firmly adjust the angle of the reflector at the end so it drops light where required.
It`s pretty rough in construction, I intend to make a better version soon.
It will adequately light subjects down to around 6 or7 cms from the front of the lens, and that`s with a Permaraal 55mm adaptor fitted to the camera too.

And here`s a shot i took earlier this evening to illustrate how close an object can be lit.........the watch is roughly 8cm from the front of the lens, you can see the circle of illumination from the flash in the background, and also see that even the area in front of the watch has been covered by the bounced flash too.

Thanks Pants, I just thought it may be of use to anyone with an FZ that doesn`t have a hotshoe. I`m still improving it.....been messing about tonight with a curved opaque plastic diffuser for the front, which spreads the light more evenly.I`ll post more pics if I get it sorted out

Interesting Mark. Can you show a pic of it on the camera?

Hi Beth, havent got a pic of it fitted to the camera unfortunately. I`m busy working on an improved version which should be finished over the weekend. I`ll try and borrow my dad`s camera to take a pic of the extender fitted to mine when it`s finished...
