Thanks fellas, i always appreciate your feedback.

Raf, some insects are more tolerant than others of being approached. That`s why i`ve posted very few hoverfly pics for example....i can never normally get close to them.At the other extreme,Ladybirds are very tolerant.
I`ve found once you get within a certain range, and the insects still sitting there,it ceases to regard you as a threat and you can snap away.Things that are guaranteed to scare them though are casting your shadow over them, sudden movements and vibrations.
Cooler damper weather is better too....the hotter the weather the more active they are and as such are more prone to flying off as you approach.
