The fire started around 2 PM Monday in the shoe store, spread to a restaurant and a bakery, and escalated to the point where equipment from all over the North side of the city was called in. I had been meaning to go shop on the other side of the street with the fire, but when I pulled out of the garage at 5:30 and saw the giant clouds of smoke, I parked and took a little walk.

1. The corner of our street and Clark Street.

2. The left hand hose is water, the right hand one is foam, which is floating down the street like soap suds.

3. Ladder Trucks in action.

4. A flare up. Tiny one. Large fire balls were most impressive.

5. Which makes one appreciate the courage of these guys, 20 feet away or so.

Happy, while that is a very unfornuate event, you did an amazing job of portraying the action. Super photos, one thing for sure, is you do know you are on Clark St. :-), which is good for people like me.

Thanks for looking and commenting Gerry, Rafael, Mark and Annie. As to anybody hurt, the radio said one person slightly early in the life of the fire, but there was nothing in the city daily paper the next day. Not newsworthy enough I guess. I would have thought it was, but then I am biaised by living in the area.

I did not want to overload and had a hard time picking pictures for this post.

I bet these are better pictures than anyone will see in the local newspapers. You've captures the scene very well. All the shots are well composed and they definitely tell the story.

Thanks for commenting Hiroshi, Tinosa and Ronny.

These were better then the local paper. They had no pictures at all. About that well composed; I thought of Rafael and all those geometric shapes in Melbourne when I was composing the one with the two ladder trucks extended.
