I am curious if you thought that it was worth the upgrade. I think the manual focus would be worth having, and the increased pixel volume in the viewfinder as well as having 50% more pixels in the pictures themselves.

Thoughts? I've had the FZ5 since Jan 2005, and it has been a truly perfect camera for what I use it for.

I'd like to read from them too! I am so temped to do that (FZ5 - FZ8) as FZ8 is so cheap now. I found one for £199 on the net! Big shops like Jessops still charge £290!

I "had a go" on FZ8 in a shop in Tokyo and it did feel wonderful and the screen is just massive after FZ5 although I do not use it when shooting.

Attached some photoshopped into b/w Tokyo pics taken on the old FZ5.

I did buy a new FZ8 a couple days ago. As soon as it gets here I'll take some identical shots and post them for comparison.

I got it for $298 including a 1GB Panasonic SD memory card and free shipping, from Amazon. Bought 2nd battery for $16, and ordered the Peramaal adapter online, now all I need is a new case.

I'll probably get a case just like my current one for the FZ5: a Lowepro edit 120, which fits it perfectly and has a side pocket for the battery charger.

This shot is from a moving boat in choppy water, from 60 feet away with the FZ5. Gotta love OIS.
