Perhaps he's asleep; covering (some of) his eyes, and doesn't really seem like an attitude to jump out from. My first impression with the spider was like he's behaving like a scared errr Ostriche (the large bird?)sticking his head in the sand :G

Thanks! These orb web spiders always pose in this way and they don't jump but walk.....not sure how they sleep though.

Regards to the book, I can always start to make one coffee table book for sale. But, as its a small vol, the cost is not cheap. Do PM me if you are interested!
