I'll be the first to say I am not really a macro person, but every year these hang out in the yard and I thought I would share the pretty colors. Natural light and one or two of those screw on macro lenses that look like UVB filters. Nothing fancy. And a small tripod on a little table. (I need a larger tripod I learned as I crushed the phlox.)

1. Sort of a side view.

2. Overhead view

Those leafhoppers are great subjects. They hardly move. I was bending the edge of the leaf on one to get rid of the curl, and moving plants out of the way to get light, and they just sat there.

3. Some kind of fly that landed while I was leaf hoppering.

Between my eyes getting old and the sweating I had a lot of trouble focusing. The wind did not help either. A bug the size of the one below is more my speed.

4. Buckeye - tele converter shot.

Thanks Mark. If we have cool morning with no wind I will try and get a sharper shot of one of those hoppers as I do like that pattern.
