Havent been able to get out much at all this last week with the wet weather we`ve been having, so it was nice to finally get out and about today.....it was hard work though due to the skittish nature of most of the species, but got a few decent shots..

#1 Scorpion fly closeup....showing the very oddly shaped head.....

#2 Fly, no idea of the species. Would have liked better shots of this with the nice colours on it but moving for a better angle would have caused it to spook....

#3 Sawfly species

#4 another shot of the Scorpion fly, this time a full body shot....

#5 Last one, feeding Bee.

Great shots Mark! I really like #1 great detail on the mouth parts!

#2 looks like a long-legged fly.

Thanks vaiboy, I was really pleased to get some better scorpion fly shots today. Theyve got to be one of the most skittish species i`ve come across so far. I think you`re right about shot 2, thanks for the ID.

Nice captures Mark, I think number 4 is exceptional. I like thecomposition and the clarity/sharpness all over insect.

I would say a lot better then decent Mark, super might be a better description. First time I have ever seen a scorpion fly, good catch. It hasn't been wet around here but the wind seems to blow all day every day and that makes it hard for shooting flowers or bugs.

Another terrific set of macros. Like #1 particularly, what an odd looking little beastie.
