It was rusty colored and picked a rusty piece of iron to land on.

That last one is possibly shows the most detail in the eyes of any I have seen. This was a nice colored fly to work with.

Nice shots! The detail on the eyes is amazing! It's a Streak-winged Red Skimmer (Sympetrum illotum)

Extremely nice captures, the dragon flies we have never seem to stay in place long enough for me, and I admit to never having seen some that you and others have posted.

Thanks Steve, Jerry and vaiboy I appreciate the comments. Also, thanks for the ID, I know nothing about them. I used a Nikon 6t with a Nikon 3t stacked on it.

Though the details in the latter shots are outstanding, I actually prefer the first for the composition.
