Stunning photography Pants!! The Massai are incredible peopleto endure and smile in defiance of hardship. You are a lucky man to experience such people and their culture. Thanks for sharing.

It certainly was an experience I will never forget and no matter how bad things can sometimes be it really put everything in perspective.

I will say the flies there were overwhelming and my wife couldn't wait to escape as it was impossible to stop them crawling everywhere....

They did tell us a story about when the boys turn I think 5 they get branded with a hot metal poker this happens every few years until the reach 21. At 16 (again I think) they have to remove their own bottom 2 front teeth with a knife ... my wife asked does it hurt

At 21 they can get married but before they do so they have to kill a lion with a knife and a spear my wife again asked isn't that dangerous ... he said of course many die ... and I was worried about saying my vows

Thanks for commenting Kenya was 2 weeks of "adventures" an experience I'll never forget as far as the photgraphy goes it's easy when your subject matter is everywhere

Thanks again

Great pictures Pants but the description of the boys growing up rituals is very disconcerting in 2007

A nice cultural photo series. You are doing well with your new camera. I like the eyes on that little girl in shot 6.

Fred"

Totally agree but then much of Kenya is like the place that man forgot. Also I have to say as you can see in shot 6 they are possibly the happiest bunch of people I have ever met constantly laughing and smiling. Maybe it was just for us but I doubt it, in Kenya you are always hearing "JAMBO" which mean ... yes u got it hello.

thanks Tcook and HP, loved it, I have another shot of that little girl somewhere ... I'll add it once it's edited.

Cheers
