Florida is so full of water places I wanted to work on reflection shots. I got a fair number of them, and will spread them out over a few posts. This one is the egrets. These guys were rather easy as they hung in the pond where we stayed and did tricks for bread.

1. Great Egret at rest

2. Great Egret in flight.

3. Snowy Egret in flight.

These last two are not reflections but I wanted to share anyway.

4. Great Egret in flight.

5. Snowy Egret landing. I have a lot of shots with muddled reflections for this guy as he was very active and stirred up the water constantly. Mostly running from the larger egret, who did not like him at all.

Thanks Pants.

It starts by finding cooperative birds. I highly recommend gulls if you have any around. Learned most of my bird shot stuff from them this last winter.

Oh yes, and bring lots of bread as bribes.

Glad you enjoyed them vaiboy. I rather like number 3 myself. I was quite fortunate to have water that still, the sun and myself in the right place not to have other reflections in the water, and the bird not stirring it up with his wings while being that close. I will be surprised if I ever get that lucky again.

I don't know how hectic and crowded Florida is in the cold months, or how the birds act since the only times I have been there were warm months, but if you want to get close to birds that is the place. Although, if you ever come to Chicago there are ponds in the city called North Pond and South Pond. Night herons nest at South Pond, and I have gotten quite close to three different kinds of herons at North Pond. I also get a lot closer to Wood Ducks there then I could in Florida. For some reason the ducks down there are rather shy. Maybe they taste good or something.

Another terrific bird series. The first three reflections shots steal the show....with three my favourite.
