The capital city of Orissa State, India, Bhubaneshwar is said to have around 600 temples in and around the city. Mostly built around the 10th century AD, the templesare fine examples ofextraordinary workmanship, as the pictures below show.

This is the tower of the Siddeshwar temple.

Though small, this temple and the arched entrance are very beautiful. The Mukteshwar temple.

Though headless, this form of a yogini inside the surrounding wall is still being worshipped.

The RajaRani temple. The name refers to the kind of soft sandstone used to make the very intricate carvings.

This temple boasts of extraordinary stone sculpture. No stonehas been left untouched, as you can observe in the next few snaps.

There is also an excellent, huge garden and lawn just outside the temple complex. An aged couple is seen strolling in peace through the pathway, enjoying the moment and probably reminiscing their younger days!
