The engine wouldn't start when we tried to set off for Charleston on Sunday - the day after I arrived. Had to call in mechanic Dan. Took three days to fly in the parts and get the engine fixed.

While we were waiting, we befriended a waitress at the restaurant we frequented nearby. She showed us around Jacksonville (typical American hospitality - you can't beat it!). We invited her and her daughter aboard for a visit. Meet Colleena ....

We finally got out into the ocean, planning on an overnight to Charleston. But an accidental gybe in fairly heavy weather demolished one of the mainsheet blocks (we found it to have been badly corroded). So we had to limp in to Hilton Head to make repairs. Here's a pic of Harbourtown where we docked.

A couple of days later, we set off for Beaufort, S. Carolina. "Lady Di" - first mate - at the helm. Skipper Dave relaxing. Me taking pix...
