Just venting my frustations about these feathered fiends foiling fotos....

First they hide from you

then they tease you by coming out but at the last minute....

Other times they sit on unispiring perches

or just lose all sense of decorum

I'm gonna shoot buildings again tomorrow...

Those perches are not that bad. I took a picture of a very pretty bird in the yard last winter and then noticed he was sitting on a frozen dog poop. And all the breakwaters and such here are rusty or covered with grafitti where the birds sit. The first two pictures could be taken right here though; our birds do that also.

Buildings though, there are so many in Chicago that they hide behind each other also. If you lived here you might be driven to photograph birds.

(edited to add) Forgot to mention, nice birds. I like the young gull. For a gull he's rather cute.

Thanks Steve....Chicago buildings would I am sure be a treat to try and shoot. Of ourse not in the middle of one of your bitter winters. As you can see ours are soft in comparison.

Thanks Emmanuel and Ted. Yes sometimes it is fruatating, but it is so much fun. Yes Ted I do have a soft spot for that first one, except the bird is a touch soft. It is actually a really good representation of the bird as they spend most of their time sliding around from one eucalyptus flower to the next feeding.

#1 made me smile and the various shades of green in the dappled light of #2 are quite beautiful, particuly in the feathers.
