Melbourne city centre seems to run on coffee and shopping.

So the coffee shots, it was early as I was in donating blood before work.

Many of Melbourne's more interesting shopping areas are in soem of the old arcades that link the major E-W streets.

I would not mind strolling down that arcade in shot 3. A nice collection as usual.

Thanks mc and Steve. Yes MC I do like the ambience of the two B&W shots, it was a shot for the early birds.

In my town I doubt anything would be that empty even at the early bird hours.

Steve, that is probably a population thing. Melbourne has a population of 3.7M. That is the whole metropolitan city of Melbourne. Chicago has a population of about $2,8M which is just the city, the metropolitan population is about $9.5M.

We are all spread out here. There are about 22M of us (ie about the population of NY) in an area about the size of continental USA.

You have no idea how jealous I am. Every year Chicago has fireworks on July 3rd. We never go because over 1 million other people do. Even with lots of porta-potties it is not a situation we want to deal with. Not to mention the traffic jam at the end.

That is the largest thing, but almost anything that is neat and in the city has hundreds of thousands of people.

Which makes me quite lucky that I find the nature shots I do, by the way.

Come September we may go to Celtic Fest, and if we do I will try and find a good position to take crowd shots to post. With the daughter who wishes she were an Irish lass off to school we may not be as inspired to go this year though.
