I've had my Panasonic Lumix for a year now, and have had no problems downloading my pictures onto my Mac PowerBook G4 until this past month. I connect my camera and computer with the USB just like I've always done. On my camera screen I select the PC connection, click on it, and then I get the 'access' logo. But the 'import' screen never comes on. I can't download anything. Normally if one tries to unplus anything, you get a message saying you might have damaged the pcitures, but I don't get that either, nor do I get anything like the 'no name' icon anywhere. Sorry if I sound like a beginner. I don't have all that much knowledge of these things, but so far I've never had problems. I've followed the instructions in my camera's manuel, but still nothing works! Any idea? HELP!!!!! please!

Most likely you need a card reader.......the USBconnection on the camera most likely has failed.

I have always felt its much better to start with a card reaader and save the camera connection for emergencies.......

To find the cause of the failure:

Try it on a different computer.

Try another USB slot.

Remove the card and put it back again, in case it's a bad contact.

If you have or can borrow one, try the card in an external reader.

Try a different reading program.

Try another card in the camera.

If it proves to be the card, it may need re-formatting.

Cards can and do fail (as also do cameras, cords, software and computers) so you need to check every which way until you isolate the fault.

Good for you, a card does need formatting at least occasionally, but I would really consider the card reader as a good accessory
