That's good news for everyone in Europe. Just as a comparison, is the price for the FZ2 the same as the current price for the FZ1?

Well, the last time I looked (today):
prices in Germany on 27 aug 2003 as quoted on their website:

retail price for FZ1: € 599
announced for FZ2: € 529

You can see for yourself. Just navigate through the same link.

It makes you wonder what actual differences there are.

I fervently hope it's just a matter of different firmware, that the hardware remains unchanged except for the P/A/E icon instead of the red camera icon on the selector knob and that they will distribute a firmware upgrade soonest. I would much rather install new firmware than go through the time-consuming hassle of first selling the FZ1, then ordering the new one and on top of that having to *wait* for delivery.

I've been pushing this digicam with my colleagues. So if I don't sell mine to a colleague and get the FZ2 for myself, then surely this colleague shall buy the FZ2. This makes no difference to Panasonic, does it?

Just anecdotal: I bought the FZ1 in Belgium on june 20th 2003 for € 650 !!! Plain robbery compared to US prices.

Well, I suppose oriental (or a dentist's) patience is called for ...

Well, even if you're right - how can we get this software and how can we install it to our FZ1?

Oh! It's UK. That's OK!

Well, considering your site sponsoring by
"The Hong Kong
Accrington Stanley
Supporters Club"
my misunderstanding is understandable.

hehe nice to have someone who pays for the site The supporters club consists of one bloke living out there.. Thats all he wanted in return.. Really misses home and doesn't want the pics to stop I guess.. My site isn't to show off my camera abilities (thank goodnees) but to try and capture the atmosphere for those that cant make it to games.

I use a c2100 uz but its old now and keeps having problems and I think its had its day. Time for a new camera.. Looking forward to getting a DMC FZ2 in Septmeber..

In reading through these comments, there seems to be some ideas that the FZ1's can be converted to FZ2's. Not so
I'm just learning more of the specific design differences, but suffice to say it's not a change than can be done through firmware.
I'll ba happy to answer any questions you may have.
