http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfz18/

It won't make everyone happy, though.

I always end up feeling that the reviewers bias against the Pana NR etc spoils an otherwise good review. You only have to look at all the excellent FZ18 pics being posted elsewhere on the net to see that for the average user the issues the reviewer has with the camera are pretty irrelevant, and are putting the potential buyer off purchasing what is a very good camera in its field.Same with the fz50, which I recently purchased....I was put off for quite a while by the excessive smearing/nr claims but after checking out a LOT of images by users of the camera I again felt the negative comments irrelevant for my own use of the camera,so bought one , and i`ve no complaints at all.
The "only suitable for small prints/keep iso low" claims are also flawed, i`ve printed out some very nice A4 prints from shots up to 800iso, and I expect the fz18 is also capable of similar.I`m afraid I only read such reviews now to see the functions of a camera and check out the macro capabilities, the rest is irrelevant for the average consumer in my eyes.

While the FZ18 does not seem to be the camera for me......Steve seems much more optimistic.

Agree Gene, a much more realistic review more relevant to the consumer.Total contrast to the other one.
