I have been spending a bit fo time in wineries lately......we are fortunate to have a number of fine wine regions near us, and my wife and I have been enjoying the odd lunch with a glass or two of nice wine.

Thought I would share a couple of shots. First few from the Yarra Valley...a half hour drive from our home in suburban Melbourne

and from inside the restaurant

and a couple of more recent ones, the vines are getting a bit of growth...it was about here where I took the shots of the new holland honey eater I posted a few days ago...

Another nice series, Rafael. The third and last are my favorites.

Love the shots Raphael and you composed the last shot perfectly. Are the dried vines dead or is it just to early for them to leaf out?

Raghu Nov 9, 2007 11:33 AM

Beautiful set. The restaurant shot is superb composition.

Thanks Jerry, Ted and Raghu.....

That third shot was for a panachallenge on windows so composition was careful....got lucky with teh one of my wife, she normally hates posing but because she was enjoying the scenery I was able to get a nice on off.

Ted the early shots were in early September, equivalent to your early March, so the vines were still in their winter slumber. They are all now like the middle two...and growing for the summer harvest.

Nice shots and nice looking country. I like the one with the wife and the preceding ne best. Just because of the view.

Nice series, Rafael. Like #3 & #5 best.
Made me thirsty - Australia has good wines.

Thanks Steve and Robin we are fortunate to be within an easy drive of two fine wine regions. The Yarra Valley is an easy 30 minute drive, the peninsula is about an hour. It makes for a great day, wonderful country and views, a nice lunch in great environs and a glass (or three if you are not driving) of some very fine wine.

One of the touristy things you can do out of Melbourne is a bus winery tour. They drop in to a few wineries along the way for tasings and you have lunch at one of them. I believe they are quite popular.

Excellent scenery and composition Rafael. I really enjoyed this series. The only way to enjoythat beautiful landscape, is to go outand buy a bottle of Australian "Shiraz" and day dream.
