Cant resist snapping a few pics of any cats I come across on my travels, theyre such photogenic animals. This one was 400iso (no nr)5mp EZ mode.I continue to be impressed with the fz50`s handling of higher ISO shots.Hope you like it.

Nice for 400ISO, the noise is reasonably controlled.

Nice looking cat and a fine shot. The fur edges show up well. Was this a RAW shot?

Thanks Steve No, it was a jpeg taken at 5mp EZ mode.Raw mode with the fz50 only allows images to be taken at 10mp unless you change the aspect ratio.

So you can turn off the noise reduction on jpeg shots then? I was not aware of that and will keep it in mind as I consider what to get next.

Sorry for the confusion Steve, when I said no nr I meant in the post processing.I always have everything set to low when shooting jpeg to minimise smearing etc, but you cant turn it off completely.

Oh. OK then. No apology needed. I am easily and often confused anyway.

Maybe someone who has one can confirm, but I recall reading that the fz18 allows minus settings of the NR.. eg -1, -2 ,as opposed to just a "low" setting?

Dont worry Steve, I confuse myself sometimes :-)
