Thought I would share some of the autumn colors here in Japan. I'm a teacher at a junior high school, and since the weather has been wonderful the last few days and I had some free time between classes...

Winter has come early...already snowing in the mountains. A view from the school parking lot.

Some trees around school.

These next few shots were taken in the late afternoon. The sun hitting the red leaves on a clear day made for some really colorful shots. I've been shooting in RAW mode recently, just to see how much I can get out of my FZ30. So far I've been quite pleased :-)

I liked this shot even though there was some purple fringing.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice fina23. It looks cold and the snow'sgetting low on the mountain. Anyday now and it will be in your back yard.

Great series, as Raf says, those red leaves are really nice. Our autumn colour has all but gone, but snow is forecast tonight so may get some nice photo ops over the weekend.
I`ve been shooting recently with Raw too,and have also been quite impressed so far with the results.

Although they are not overly large in my neighborhood, I think Japanese Maples are just about the prettiest trees due to their red shading. I guess it holds even more true in their homeland. And since mine always froze to death I have to look at others, so thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Fall is definitely the most colorful season in Japan, it's a pity I haven't been able to get out to the famous cities like Kyoto. Several hundred year old temples with brilliantly colored leaves make for spectacular photography. Oh well, maybe next year:-)
