I would like to buy a camera for my son for christmas. He has been wanting one for a couple of years now. One that will do at least 5 fps to take on the ski slopes. If what i read at panasonices web site is correct, in burst mode it will do 7 fps. Am i reading that correctly? I cant afford to buy him a DSLR. This is listed as $299.95 on Panasonics site. Would this work?

The way I read it it does the 7fps but at only 2mp. That might be enough but you won't have much room for cropping.

Thank you for replying. I thought that was what it meant. I wasn't too sure.

Maybe i should consider getting him one with a larger zoom alone with the burst mode? I'll check around.

THanks

If you don't mind the size the FZ50 is just absoutely great. I keep mine in unlimited burst mode all the time. Two frames per second is faster thanyou think and it's fast enough to get several shots of any action an animal is doing. I've read a lot of good things about the FZ18 also. It does have a smaller sensor though. But the FZ33, FX55 & FX100 all look good to me, if you don't need the long zoom.
