Does anyone know of a way to get this to work? I am looking at many options to get my camera waterproof. but, having the lens that retracts and extends makes the options small. Does anyone know if this will work of an idea to find one that works...

I'd really not want to have to spend that much but, at the same time I really don't want to have a cheap one. for obvious reasons. Quality is needed but, price isn't. Either way its a post with an open cost. I'm not looking for a budget but, more quality and then I will narrow from there

hercules71185,

As far as I know, the Aquapac (in your link) and the EWA Marine (http://www.ewamarine.com/index.php?id=103&L=0) are the only underwater housings available for the FZ series cameras.

The EWA Marine web site recommends that you mount a lens adapter -- DMW-LA3, in the case of the FZ18 -- probably because of the extending lens design of the camera.

I tried the large Aquapac camera case with my FZ1 -- slightly smaller than the FZ18 -- and it was not large enough. The store where I was checking it out did not carry the SLR model, so I couldn't try that. So if you have the opportunity to test your camera with an actual housing, I'd recommend it.

in my home town of west palm I'd be able to do the testing in person. But, I live in the middle of nowhere. And by that I mean
we have a sugar plant
4 stop lights
walmart
no electronic stores AT ALL
no clothing stores at all
2 grocery stores
mc donalds. No BK or Wendys..
so yea. testing it I think i can run into a problem
But, I am going back home in a few weeks what store is a good one that has the camera stuff? ritz camera?

hercules71185,

Funny you should mention West Palm Beach because that is where I tested out the Large Aquapac camera case last winter when I was down that way. (Remember that it was too small for my FZ1.)

It was at:

Divers Direct
4074 Northlake Blvd
Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410
561.775.0577

I'd suggest you contact both of the distributors below to find stores that you can visit when you're home.

P.S. I'm guessing from your description that you live in Clewiston. Am I right?
